Learn from literary agent Doug Grad. Grad, a 37-year veteran of the publishing industry, is the President of Doug Grad Literary Agency. Prior to starting his own agency in 2008, Grad spent the previous 22 years as a Senior Editor at four major New York publishing houses, including Simon & Schuster (1987-1995), Random House (1995-1998), Penguin (1998-2004), and Harper Collins (2005-2008). Grad promises to give aspiring and new authors the cold, hard reality of the business of publishing—from landing a deal with a major publisher to self-publishing your manuscript. He’ll give you a general overview of publishing; how the publishing industry has changed in recent years; and the various steps to getting a book published, from the writer’s ideas to the bookstore (or library) shelves. The group is facilitated by author Dale T. Phillips, who has published novels, over 80 short stories, collections, poetry, and non-fiction. Stephen King was Dale's college writing teacher. Dale has found time to appear on stage, television, radio, in an independent feature film, and compete on Jeopardy (losing in a spectacular fashion). He's a member of the Mystery Writers of America and the Sisters in Crime. Dale has traveled to all 50 states, Mexico, Canada, and through Europe. Learn more about Dale HERE.
