There is an extensive network of beautiful wooded trails throughout Willowdale State Forest worth discovering. During this guided mushroom walk participants will have a chance to explore a diverse gamut of fungi growing on and off these trails. Exact meeting spot will be announced closer to the walk. Walk leader will be Jana Harris of Essex Forays, certified in Wild Mushroom Food Safety and member of Boston Mycological Club. Walk will last about 2 hours and will give participants a chance to look close up at mushroom species that are unique to the wetland environment and also mixed woods. Depending on weather there will be different types of mushrooms to learn about. Please wear sturdy shoes, bring a water bottle and ID field guide if you have one.
