Off-site meeting location: Willowdale State Forest. Please meet at the Willowdale State Forest lot near Marini Farm at 259 Linebrook Road in Ipswich for 10:30am. Registration required. 

This program is intended for adults and teens only.

This is a guided mushroom walk for all those interested in discovering fungi growing in the Willowdale State Forest. The walk leader will be Jana Harris of Essex Forays, certified in Wild Mushroom Food Safety and a member of the Boston Mycological Club. The walk will last about 2 hours and will give participants a chance to look closeup at mushroom species that are unique to the wetland environment and also mixed woods. Depending on weather there will be different types of mushrooms to explore. Please wear sturdy shoes, bring a water bottle and ID field guide if you have one, baskets (optional). 

The program presenter also sent me some suggestions for attendees on what to wear and bring:

• attendees should wear long pants and closed shoes
• tick/bug spray highly recommended
• water bottle
• small notepad + pencil (if desired)
• field guide if you have one
• basket (Jana will have small paper bags and some plastic knifes for those without baskets
