Armchair Traveler: Southern Sicily

Wednesday, February 247:00—8:30 PMVirtual - LiveIpswich Public Library25 North Main Street, 25 North Main Street, Ipswich, MA, 01938

Join Reference Librarian Jeff Klapes, ‘The Traveling Librarian,’ for another of his popular armchair travel presentations via Zoom. This series highlights travel photography and stories and travel tips about destinations around the world.

This time we'll visit southern Sicily, at the crossroads of the Mediterranean, and influenced by many different cultures throughout its history. While a part of Italy, Sicily has a distinct culture, dialect, cuisine, and attitude that makes it a place apart. We'll follow the south coast from Agrigento, with its amazing assemblage of ancient Greek temples, to the stunning Baroque hill towns of the southeast, and finish up in the bustling city of Catania, in the shadow of Mount Etna.

Jeff Klapes is the Head of Reference Services at the Lucius Beebe Memorial Library in Wakefield, Massachusetts.
