Adult Poetry Workshop: Let’s Play

This workshop is part of a series of workshops offered by local poet and teacher Carla Panciera. Each session will explore a different topic in poetry. Join us for as many as you like, and then come share your work and listen to others at a reception and reading on April 10th here at the library.

March 6th: Introduction to Poetry -- Let’s Play

Poets write for two reasons according to Frances Mayes: to play with words or to describe a witnessed experience and then to go beyond that. Be prepared to dispense with meaning. This class will concentrate, instead, on playing with words.

Carla Panciera has published two collections of poetry: One of the Cimalores (Cider Press) and No Day, No Dusk, No Love (Bordighera). Her collection of short stories, Bewildered, received AWP’s 2013 Grace Paley Short Fiction Award and is available from the University of Massachusetts Press. Her work has appeared in several journals including The New England Review, Nimrod, The Chattahoochee Review, Painted Bride, and Carolina Quarterly. A high school English teacher, Carla lives in Rowley, MA, with her husband and three daughters.
