March 12th: Introduction to Poetry -- The Witnessed Experience and Beyond

In this class, we will be observers and recorders, using what we already know or can observe from the world around us, to begin poems. We will also go beyond being mere “secretaries of our morning” as Billy Collins describes himself, to discover how to use poetic shifts to take our poems to the next level.
